Dirty water enters the unit through the screen 1. Unwanted particles are trapped on the outer surface of the screen, before they enter the system. Strained water then exits the outlet 2 and enters the pump suction.

Clean water (from the pump discharge) enters the backwash connection 3 and travels into the cleaning nozzle assembly 4. The nozzles direct a high pressure jet of water at the screen from the inside out, blasting away the accumulated debris. The nozzles are oriented such that the spray causes the assembly to rotate, ensuring that the entire surface is cleaned.

The nozzle assembly is operated by line pressure (drawn off after the pump) and can be operated either continuously or intermittently as desired.
